Congratulations to Boys Tennis players M. Heaton and G. Fitzsimmons for finishing 2nd in sectionals and qualifying for the state tournament. The 2nd place finish is the best finish in the Boys Tennis program and the duo will be the first from the boys program to qualify for the state tournament. Congratulations again!
Girls Track competed at the State meet on May 17th and 18th at EIU and had a terrific end to their season! A. Nelson qualified in the 300 low hurdles running a 47.05 in the prelims. The 4x400 team (Finley, Tabatabai, Dooley, McNicholas) ran a 4:16.42 in the prelims. L. Sapetti made it to finals in the pole vault and vaulted 10'0" earning 10th place. H. Hollinshead jumped 36'.5" making it to finals and took 11th place in triple jump. The 4x800 team (Finley, Tabatabai, Bartolozzi, McNicholas) won their heat in prelims qualifying them to run in the finals with a time of 9:36.36. Saturday, in the finals, the relay team placed 3rd and bettered their own school record with a time of 9:30.76. M. McNicholas qualified for finals in the mile running a 5:13.05 and came back the next day to earn 3rd place overall breaking her own school record once again with a time of 5:09.14. The team capped their season off with two 3rd place state medals and three new school records.
Boys Track concluded the regular season with their sectional track meet Friday night at Memorial Stadium with a performance that will not soon be forgotten! The Rockets finished in 2nd place with 65 points to Chatham Glenwood’s 127 points and qualified 3 relays as well as 4 individual events to state! T. Rodgers qualified in all four events in which he competed, B. Pasley qualified in 3 events, and all 4 seniors on the team (J. Cullen, C. Gleason, T. Rodgers, B. Pasley) qualified in at least one event!! State qualifying performances included the 4 x 800 meter relay of M. Gleason, C. Biesiada, M. Harry, and J. Cullen with a time of 8:14.71, the 4 x 200 meter relay of J. Tally, J. Bivens. T. Rodgers, and B. Pasley with a time of 1:31.67, the 4 by 400 meter relay of A. Cable, T. Rodgers, C. Gleason, and B. Pasley with a time of 3:27.38, B. Pasley in pole vault with a vault of 13' 3", T. Rodgers in long jump with a jump of 20' 9" and triple jump with a jump of 44' 8.5", and A. Cable in the 300 hurdles with a time of 40.51. Congratulations boys!!! Good luck next weekend!! Those scoring points at the meet are detailed below.
